Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications said on Thursday that it has issued Meta a “stern warning,” accusing it of failing to curb the spread of online gambling and misinformation. The day before, on Wednesday, Indonesia’s Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, Mutiya Hafid, carried out a surprise inspection of Meta’s operations offices in Jakarta. The ministry said Meta’s compliance rate for moderating content on its platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp—covering false information, online gambling, defamation, and hate speech—was too low, and therefore it was warned. Meta has not yet responded to a request for comment. (Sina Finance)
