I just saw that Delfina is everywhere promoting the second season of Maxima on HBO Max, and honestly, I was really surprised by how she talks about all of this. The actress is playing Maxima Zorreguieta in a series that covers everything from the wedding to the coronation (nada menos que 11 años de historia condensados), and she says it was a brutal challenge. She filmed in European palaces, had to learn Dutch just by phonetics because the language is impossible, and spent months away from home. What caught my attention is that Delfina admits that loneliness hit her hard, but then she reflects on how that made her grow professionally. She just turned 30 and has a really interesting perspective on age: she talks about letting go of pretension, accepting people as they are instead of how we want them to be. It also came out that she reconciled with Martijn Lakemeier, her co-star, but she clarifies that it’s not a romantic reconciliation—rather, they love each other very much but live in opposite parts of the world. Honestly, what I liked most is how Delfina talks about anxiety and how she prepares for media exposure: she says she trusts that respectful journalists will be assigned to her, but she’s also realistic that sometimes people want to poke holes to create controversy. Did you watch the premiere? How is the series turning out?
