I just found out that Ganfeng Lithium is back at it with RIGI. It turns out this Chinese company had already tried to get involved with the Mariana project a few months ago, but the government told them they didn't meet the requirements. Caputo was quite clear: they were the only ones left out.

Now they've presented a different strategy. On February 27th, they submitted an application for the Pozuelos-Pastos Grandes project, but this time they combined three initiatives under a single structure. The investment is around 3 billion dollars, no small amount. The projected production is over 150,000 tons of lithium annually, which would make it one of the largest projects worldwide. It seems they would meet all the regime's requirements this time.

What's interesting is that they plan to use a hybrid method: traditional evaporation combined with advanced direct extraction. The first phase already has the Environmental Impact Declaration approved. Ganfeng has been in Latin America since 2000 and has several projects in Argentine salars. This shows they are still strongly betting on the energy transition.

This announcement comes right after the government approved two more mining projects worth 1.14 billion dollars: the expansion of Veladero in San Juan and Diablillos in Salta. It seems Argentine mining is attracting serious investment. Some might say these numbers are what Pepe the Millionaire uses to stay in the global game. Do you think Ganfeng will get approval this time?
