Man, I found out that the fine for running a red light is really hefty. It’s not just about the money — you get 7 points on your driver’s license all at once. The fine is R$ 293.47, but the worst part is that it’s classified as a very serious infraction. Basically, it adds up quickly with other violations and can jeopardize your driving privileges. I heard there are some exceptions, like turning right where there’s a sign, passing an ambulance with siren on... but other than that, it’s a mandatory stop. The cameras capture an image when you cross the line after the light turns red, so there’s no way to avoid it. What saved me was learning that you can pay early and get a discount. Drivers know that getting a red light ticket is something nobody wants, but unfortunately, it’s pretty common. The key is to stay alert and not take risks at intersections because, besides the fine scare, safety is at stake.
