I recently read a report from The Wall Street Journal indicating that Trump's team feels somewhat uncomfortable with some actions taken by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nomi.

According to the report, Nomi has been actively demonstrating support for the president since taking office earlier this year, but this enthusiasm seems to have annoyed Trump and his close associates. Interestingly, Nomi has a close relationship with Corey Lewandowski, a former campaign manager who worked with Trump, and the two appear to be deliberately trying to curry favor with the president. They even managed to secure a meeting with Trump in the Oval Office within two days after a major event, followed by a series of press conferences to promote the department’s achievements.

However, the issue lies in the fact that the close relationship between Kirstjen Nomi and Lewandowski makes Trump uncomfortable. It is said that Lewandowski initially wanted to officially serve as Nomi’s chief of staff, but Trump rejected him due to rumors of a romantic relationship between the two, and the president seems to have held a grudge about it.

Behind the scenes, the two have tried to sideline other competitors and have been advising the president. Although Lewandowski has a long-standing political relationship with Trump and the president trusts his loyalty, White House officials are frustrated with his role at the Department of Homeland Security. Reports suggest that Lewandowski’s authority far exceeds what is typically allowed for his position, involving personnel, contracts, and confidential information.

This situation even drew the attention of the White House Counsel’s Office, which had previously investigated Lewandowski for potential abuse of his status as a special government employee. It seems that efforts to curry favor with the president have instead become a problem.
