US Stock Movement | Optical Communication Sector Rises Across the Board Applied Optoelectronics(AAOI.US) surges nearly 18%

Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI.US) surged nearly 18%, Lumentum (LITE.US) rose more than 5%, Coherent (COHR.US) gained more than 4%, and Corning (GLW.US) climbed more than 2%. On the news front, global fiber-optic cable prices are going through a new round of sharp increases, and the rally has already spread from the China market to Europe and the United States.

According to data, the spot price of China’s G652.D bare optical fiber reached RMB 83.40 per kilometer (about $12.07) in March 2026, up 165% month-over-month from January 2026 and up as much as 418% year-over-year. Since May 2025, this price has accumulated gains of over 400%, and for the first time it has broken through the prior cycle high of RMB 78.80 per kilometer. At the same time, the price of similar products in the European market also rose 136% month-over-month in January. The trend of tightening global supply is becoming increasingly evident.
