I just saw this on Truth Social and honestly, Trump is on fire. It turns out The Wall Street Journal published a report about U.S. refueling planes that were hit by Iranian forces at a Saudi base, and he’s convinced that the whole story is a media conspiracy. He claims that the Iranians literally handed the information to the press to make him look bad. The interesting part is that Trump doesn’t beat around the bush. He directly accuses the media of treason for spreading what he calls false information. According to his logic, the radical left-wing press is losing credibility because people no longer believe anything they say. And look, he has a point about his approval ratings, although the full argument is quite... let’s say, controversial. What caught my attention is that he took the opportunity to praise Brendan Carr, the FCC chairman, saying he’s reviewing the licenses of these news organizations that he considers corrupt and unpatriotic. Basically, he’s suggesting they should lose access to U.S. airwaves because they use them to spread what he sees as lies. Trump also went after late-night hosts, saying they earn huge salaries but have terrible audiences. The tone is intense, like he’s on an episode of The Apprentice firing people. The reality is, this reflects a bigger tension about how the Iran war coverage is handled and who controls the narrative. Whether you agree with Trump or not, it’s clear that the relationship between the government and the media remains one of the most explosive topics in American politics.
