What criteria should you use when choosing auto insurance in your 30s?
Many people consider switching insurance when they get married or have children. Finding auto insurance that offers comprehensive accident support while keeping premiums affordable can surprisingly be challenging. Since the market options for those in their 30s are not always clear, we compared 15 popular auto insurance products based on three points: accident response capability, coverage content, and premiums for people in their 30s.
The key to choosing is "robust support during accidents" and "affordable premiums"—these two points. Under these conditions, Rakuten General Insurance's "Drive Assist" stands out. It offers 24-hour support and on-site emergency services, and for those in their 30s with a 15th grade, the premium is about ¥35,400, which is over ¥10,000 cheaper than the average. The Rakuten points cashback is also a nice bonus.
Next is Secom General Insurance's "Secom Peace of Mind My Car Insurance." It also provides 24/7 support and on-site assistance, and for beginners in their 30s, the premium is around ¥68,900, which is below the market average. Tokio Marine Direct's "&e" also offers optional legal expense coverage, making it a cost-effective choice for 30-somethings.
If you prefer non-profit options, Kokumin Kyosai's "My Car Mutual Aid" and JA Kyosai's "Kuruma Master" are also candidates. They provide support until 10 p.m. and allow unlimited liability coverage for personal injury and property damage, which offers peace of mind. However, Kokumin Kyosai tends to be slightly more expensive for beginners in their 30s at about ¥83,400.
For those prioritizing lower costs through online applications, SBI Insurance is the cheapest option, with a premium of about ¥34,200 for a 15th-grade driver in their 30s—one of the lowest prices. However, initial support is limited to until 7 p.m.. Zurich also offers affordable premiums but does not include on-site emergency services. If you're concerned about nighttime accidents, it’s better to avoid this option.
Ultimately, choosing auto insurance in your 30s mainly depends on "24-hour support," "availability of on-site services," and "reasonable premiums." Finding the right company that matches your lifestyle and concerns about accidents is the best approach.
