Benefiting from China’s push to adopt domestically made chips, last year China-based semiconductor companies successfully captured 41% share in the China AI GPU market. At the same time, U.S. chip giant Nvidia’s market share fell to 55%, the biggest contraction after U.S. export controls.

According to a consolidated report, China-based semiconductor companies saw their market share rise last year thanks to strong government subsidies, delivering 1.65 million AI GPUs, with total shipments reaching 4 million units.

Before U.S. chip sanctions, Nvidia dominated in China with a market share of about 95%; after the sanctions, its share was severely eroded, and in 2025 its shipments were about 2.2 million units.

Among China’s semiconductor companies, Huawei became the biggest winner, with shipments of 812,000 units and a market share of nearly 20%; Alibaba (09988)-backed Pingtouge (Pingtouge) ranked third with 256,000 units.
