I found it interesting to discover that the date of Easter changes every year. So in 2026, it will be on April 5th, but people usually start celebrating from Sexta-feira da Paixão, which falls on the 3rd. At least Sexta-feira da Paixão is a public holiday, so we get a day off guaranteed.

But it's kind of like this: Easter itself isn't an official holiday, only Sexta-feira da Paixão is. I understand that the date varies because it follows the Church's lunar calendar; it's not a fixed date like Christmas. It always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs after the March equinox. That's why it changes every year.

For Christians, it's the day that celebrates Jesus' resurrection. And then people take advantage of it for family lunches, chocolates, codfish... We end up having a long weekend even with the holiday on Friday. Do you already have plans for Easter?
