Currently, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security “shutdown” has entered its seventh week, continually setting new records for a single U.S. government department “shutdown.” On the surface, it appears to be a budget-related stalemate, but underneath it is a partisan struggle between the Democratic and Republican parties over immigration policy.
