I just read about the ongoing situation with CJNG following recent events. It seems there is a figure named Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán, known as 'El Sapo,' who is being pointed out by authorities as a potential successor within the cartel's structure.

What’s interesting is how U.S. authorities have him in their sights. The Department of the Treasury identified him as a high-ranking member precisely due to his role in recruitment. According to reports, this individual was coordinating operations at locations like Rancho Izaguirre in Jalisco, where a training camp with hundreds of clothing items and bone remains was recently discovered. Essentially, he was in charge of training recruits and, according to records, also responsible for eliminating those who disobeyed.

What draws attention is that the FGR had already identified him back in January as a 'possible' successor. They captured several cartel members in Jalisco and Nayarit, including someone called 'El Uber,' who reported directly to Mendoza. All signs point to him receiving support from the family of the previous leader to coordinate criminal activities.

With the death of the former leader a few months ago, the cartel’s dynamics changed significantly. This triggered the wave of blockades and chaos we saw in various states. Now it appears there is a transition underway, and this individual is a key player in that restructuring. Authorities are monitoring how the situation develops, considering that control over armed cells and activity coordination position him as a candidate for greater power within the organization.
