Wow, it turns out that today, Friday, traffic in Mexico City is complicated due to the road closures that were scheduled. The SSC released their mobilization agenda, and honestly, there are quite a few points where heavy traffic will be everywhere.
Since early morning, there have been blockades; by 7:00 AM, there are closures at Chabacano station (Lines 2, 8, and 9), then they move to the Zócalo and Periférico Sur around 11:00. The criminal courts are also affected at 1:00 PM, followed by the Government Building at 3:00 PM. Even the U.S. Embassy was expected to have activity at 4:00 PM in the Miguel Hidalgo area.
But if you thought it was just blockades, there are also marches. Gustavo A. Madero, Venustiano Carranza, and Cuauhtémoc have several scheduled for the evening. So if you need to get around Mexico City today, better plan carefully because these road closures will cause significant congestion at various points in the city.
Road closures in Mexico City are serious when there are so many coordinated mobilizations. How's the traffic where you are? Some say it's better to stay home this Friday.
