I just went through this and didn’t know what to do. They cut off the power but I already paid, you know? The problem is that the cutoff isn’t automatic when you make the transfer. Turns out that after 15 or 20 days without paying, CFE simply cuts your service, just like that. What nobody tells you is that even if you have the bill paid, reconnection takes some time.

The first thing I did was call 071 to report that I had already paid, but that’s not enough. You also have to pay the reconnection fee, which is between $55 y $91 pesos plus VAT. After that, they generate an order, and a CFE technician has to go to your house, which can take between 24 and 72 hours. Pretty frustrating when everything just goes out suddenly.

The obvious recommendation is not to reach that point, but if it already happened, use the CFE Contigo app to pay quickly or go to a store like 7-Eleven or Walmart. Some colleagues told me that paying directly online on the CFE website also works fast. The important thing is that once you pay, report the payment so they can speed up the process. Has anyone else been in this situation? It’s something you really don’t want to happen again.
