Institutions: Spring Break connects with Qingming Festival, boosting the tourism market

Guoxin Securities believes that the spring vacation bridging into Qingming Festival will heat up the tourism market. With the upcoming Qingming Festival “mini–Golden Week,” the tourism market is running hot. According to Fliggy data, ticket reservations and hotel bookings for scenic spots have risen significantly year over year. Themes such as watching flowers and spring outings are in high demand. Traditional destinations and long-distance travel are favored, and bookings for niche destinations have seen growth rates exceeding 100%. In addition, local leisure and entertainment spending for outbound travel has also increased markedly. What’s more, more and more provinces are beginning to explore spring-and-autumn vacations, which is expected to further unlock family and parent-child travel demand.

Bank of China Securities believes that the Qingming Festival holiday is approaching, and combined with the impact of the spring vacation, expectations are for travel data to set another record high. In this year’s Government Work Report, “support eligible localities in promoting spring and autumn vacations for primary and secondary schools” was proposed for the first time. So far, regions including Jiangsu and Sichuan have already released 2026 spring vacation arrangements for primary and secondary students. Some holiday periods will be connected with the Qingming Festival holidays, forming a longer mini-holiday. With expectations for an increase in the number of holiday days, travel enthusiasm is set to rise noticeably.

Oriental Securities believes that, with the rollout of spring-and-autumn vacations, it can not only promote parent-child groups’ mid-to-long-distance travel and create new “education + culture and tourism” integration scenarios, but also help smooth out peak and trough periods, encourage taking time off during the off-season, recreate Golden Week through combinations/extended vacations, and activate the consumption potential of spring and autumn. Meanwhile, the Shenwan Social Services Index has undergone a major adjustment since mid-January. With Qingming and May Day coming up, there may be a Qingming mini-holiday trading opportunity.
