All automated driving systems are facing scrutiny these days. While a lot of it is aimed at Tesla’s TSLA +2.43% ▲ Full Self-Driving (supervised) program, legacy automaker Ford F +1.04% ▲ and its BlueCruise system is also getting a look from regulators. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) made some recommendations after some consideration. The measures did not seem especially concerning to investors, who sent Ford shares up fractionally in Wednesday afternoon’s trading.

Automatic driving systems are under increased scrutiny these days, as the Trump administration is trying to establish a national framework for vehicles that can operate without user control. As such, the NTSB recommended that new standards be put in place for data collection during accidents. BlueCruise itself, meanwhile, needed to be modified so that automated braking could not be turned off, and that speed limits could not be exceeded. It also called for “improved driver monitoring technology.”

Ford representative Amy Mast noted, “Ford remains committed to safety and appreciates the NTSB’s thorough investigation, which found no quality defects or equipment failures in BlueCruise. While alcohol impairment was a key factor in these incidents, we will take the NTSB’s recommendations under serious consideration as we continue to evolve our driver-assist technologies and encourage responsible road behavior.”

Lime Green Never Looked So Good

Meanwhile, new interior shots of the Bronco RTR emerged, and revealed that lime green can have a presence in a modern vehicle interior. The images that emerged showed off a car that was mostly black inside, but also had bits of lime green as trim color in some exciting places. Ford seems to be calling it “hyper lime,” and the effect is unexpectedly striking.

From the grab handles to the air vents and the seatbelts, hyper lime is making a statement across the Bronco’s interior. But the RTR interior is about more than just clever color schemes. It also offers a dual-zone climate control system with heated front seats, making it as comfortable as it is eye-catching.
