I just reviewed the Mexican Army salary table for 2026, and honestly, I was surprised to see how much a military commander earns. It’s not what most people imagine.

Starting from the bottom, a private earns around $18,840 pesos per month, which isn’t bad compared to other jobs. But as you move up the ranks, things change quite a bit. A corporal already earns nearly $20 thousand, and sergeants between $20 and 21 thousand. Still not extraordinary.

Now, when you reach ranks like Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, or Major, that’s where the real numbers start to add up. A Colonel earns almost $91 thousand per month, which exceeds one million per year. And if you’re wondering how much a military commander earns in the higher ranks, Division Generals reach $133 thousand monthly.

The interesting part is that it’s not just the salary. Military personnel also receive quite generous benefits: a 40-day Christmas bonus, vacation premium, groceries, transportation, and a technical allowance that adds another 40%. That completely changes the equation.

If you were considering joining the military career, now you have real figures on the table. Salaries are competitive, especially if you manage to advance in the military hierarchy.
