I just reviewed the Mexican Army salary table for 2026, and honestly, the numbers are quite interesting. Many people don't realize that military personnel in Mexico earn quite well compared to other professionals, especially if they manage to advance in rank.

For example, a private starts with $18,840 pesos per month, but if you advance to corporal or sergeant, you're already earning between 19,000 and 21,000. What surprised me the most is knowing how much a second lieutenant makes, which is around $24,500 pesos per month. If you keep climbing in rank, a lieutenant already earns in the $26 thousand pesos range.

Now, if you really want to earn well in the Mexican Army, you need to reach the higher ranks. A colonel already exceeds the $91 thousand pesos per month, and generals are around the $100 to $133 thousand pesos. That means what a second lieutenant earns is just the beginning of the path toward those more lucrative salaries.

What's interesting is that besides the base salary, military personnel receive quite generous benefits: a 40-day Christmas bonus, vacation bonus, groceries, transportation, and even a technical allowance that adds 40% more. If you add all that up, the higher ranks easily surpass a million pesos annually.

If you're interested in knowing how much a second lieutenant earns or want to pursue a military career, the numbers are quite attractive. The key is to study at one of the military academies and then gradually climb the ranks over time.
