I just saw that Anderson Cooper is leaving 60 Minutes after nearly 20 years. The CNN journalist decided to leave CBS's Sunday program because he basically doesn't have the energy for more, between field reporting, hosting his daily news show, and spending time with his young children. I understand; honestly, that kind of workload must be exhausting.
What's interesting is that the journalist explained that although he has been able to balance both jobs for almost two decades, his priorities have now changed. He said something like he wants to spend more time with his children while they still want to spend time with him, and I found that quite honest. It's not the typical "I'm leaving because I got a better offer," but because he literally can't do everything.
Anyway, Cooper isn't disappearing completely. He will continue at CNN with his evening show and other projects like documentaries and a podcast about grief. So the journalist remains active, just without the extra load of 60 Minutes. Honestly, I respect his decision to prioritize family at this stage of his career.
