ME News update, March 31 (UTC+8), at the opening ceremony of the 14th International Energy Storage Summit and Exhibition, Chen Haisheng, Chairman of the Board of the Zhongguancun Energy Storage Industry Technology Alliance and Director of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, released the “Energy Storage Industry Research White Paper 2026.” It is expected that from 2024 to 2035, the global cumulative installed capacity of battery energy storage will surge by 8–17 times (166GW–1414GW~2885GW). The global energy storage installed-capacity landscape will shift from being mainly driven by China, the United States, and Europe to gradually expanding to regions such as India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. CNESA estimates that after the industry experiences explosive growth in the early stage, it will enter a period of switching growth rates. From 2026 to 2030, under conservative and ideal scenarios, the annual compound annual growth rates are approximately 20.7% and 25.5% respectively; although the relative growth rate will slow somewhat, the absolute incremental additions will remain at a high level.
