You know that story about governments hiding the truth about extraterrestrials? Well, Elon Musk and his skeptical view on the subject bring up a very interesting point. Recently, he tweeted that, so far, there is no concrete evidence that aliens have visited Earth. And you know what, that makes sense.

Think about it: almost everyone on Earth has a smartphone with a camera. If extraterrestrial civilizations were really visiting here, shouldn’t we see much more high-quality footage? But what we find are always blurry videos of questionable quality. Elon Musk and other skeptics point exactly to this — if there are so many cell phones out there, why do the videos always look like they’re from a 1990s camcorder?

There’s more: the distances between planetary systems are absurd. It would be practically impossible for an extraterrestrial ship to arrive here with a crew alive and well. Physics doesn’t really favor the idea of frequent visits.

Now, Edward Snowden — that guy who leaked information from the CIA and NSA — also weighs in. In an interview with Joe Rogan at the end of 2019, he admitted that even with access to confidential government and military information, he didn’t find anything convincing about extraterrestrials on Earth. But here’s the interesting part: he didn’t completely dismiss it. Snowden acknowledged that “there’s probably something inexplicable out there.”

The situation gets more confusing when you remember that the Pentagon released documents and videos of pilots’ encounters with OVNIs. The agency itself admits that these objects have extraterrestrial origins. So on one side, we have Elon Musk and Snowden saying there’s a lack of solid evidence, and on the other, the Pentagon confirming unexplained sightings.

Astronomers also got involved — they studied millions of stars searching for signs of intelligent life, and so far, nothing. So the question remains: are we alone in the universe, or are they just really good at hiding?
