I started thinking: how much money is there in the world? More precisely, how is all this wealth distributed? 🤔
The numbers are quite fascinating when you think about it. Considering all physical cash and bank account balances, we're around $37 trillion. Seems huge, right? But when you look beyond that, things get even more interesting.
If you add investments, derivatives, and cryptocurrencies, the total global wealth rises to about $1.2 quadrillion. It's hard to even visualize a number that large. To put it into perspective, the value of all physical coins and banknotes in the world is estimated at around $6.6 trillion. Everything else? Well, it mainly exists on screens and in databases.
And here’s the part that makes me think: how much money is there in the world, and what portion of this global wealth actually represents what we have? If we consider a broader measure of the money supply, including bank deposits and liquid assets, we're talking about tens of trillions of dollars.
The question I ask myself is: where do we stand in this equation? 🫣
