I have been closely following the launch of WeFi, and their approach with Deobank is truly interesting. It's not just a new product; it's a comprehensive reflection on what a decentralized bank should be in the crypto era.
What struck me is the direct critique of traditional neobanks. They revolutionized banking access, okay, but they stopped halfway by keeping the same restrictions as traditional finance. WeFi offers something different: a true decentralized bank where you maintain full control via non-custodial wallets. No surprise account freezes, no arbitrary withdrawal restrictions. It resonates with the frustrations we see everywhere in the community.
Their technical approach is solid as well. They leverage WeChain's ZK payment capabilities and integrate AI agents to simplify KYC while maintaining compliance. It's a delicate balance—making a decentralized bank work without sacrificing practicality. Operating entirely on the blockchain, they eliminate intermediaries, reducing costs and increasing transparency.
What interests me most is the business model. Maxim Sakharov explained well that neobanks have failed to offer decent yields on deposits. A decentralized bank can directly offer DeFi services—staking, liquidity pools—with personalized AI agents that adapt to each user's risk profile. That’s real value add.
Stablecoins play a central role here. With access to fiat on/off ramps, transactions remain fast, secure, and borderless. It seems like the natural direction decentralized finance should take.
The tokenomics are also well thought out. WFI rewards users for participating in ecosystem decisions—fee reductions, higher spending limits. Participants can also buy ITO nodes to participate in token creation and network validation.
Honestly, after years of seeing unfulfilled promises in crypto, it’s refreshing to see someone proposing a decentralized bank that doesn’t seek to eliminate fiat currency but to intelligently complement it. This kind of product could really change mainstream users’ perception of DeFi.
