I have just compiled a list of finance movies worth watching, especially if you're interested in the world of economics and investing.
Starting with The Big Short (2015) – this film is truly excellent, telling the story of a group of smart investors betting against the US housing market. It explains complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
Want to gain a deeper understanding of the 2008 crisis? Inside Job (2010) is a valuable documentary, thoroughly analyzing the true causes behind that collapse. This film is eye-opening.
If you prefer finance movies with more engaging storytelling, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) is a great choice. It follows the journey of a broker, from lavish wealth to downfall due to corruption and illegal trading.
Wall Street (1987) is also very worth watching – the story of a young broker eager to succeed at any cost, including illegal insider trading. This film remains relevant even after more than 30 years.
For those interested in corporate scandals, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room (2005) is a very in-depth finance documentary, revealing the illegal activities and corruption of the Enron corporation.
Finally, Too Big to Fail (2011) focuses on the 2008 crisis from the perspective of Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. It’s a great way to understand how the government intervenes in the financial system.
These are the 6 finance movies I want to recommend. They are not only entertaining but also highly educational about the real world of economics.
