Trump says he will not rule out continued pressure on Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz
Odaily Planet Daily News reports: In an interview with CBS News, Trump said that he “is not yet prepared” to give up efforts to force Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. On Tuesday morning local time, a CBS reporter called Trump and asked him to clarify his remarks made earlier suggesting he might abandon the related action. Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction that other countries had not sent military forces to participate in the U.S.-Iran conflict, but said he was not yet prepared for the United States to exit the conflict. “At some point I will do that, but not now. Other countries have to step in and handle it themselves. Iran has been weakened, but they have to finish the job themselves.” Trump also reiterated that although Iran was still carrying out attacks on ships and infrastructure in countries in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz “does not pose a real threat.” “Let them fight for it themselves. They don’t want to help anybody. NATO is terrible, and they’re all terrible. So if they want oil, they should go and get it themselves.” Trump said. (Jin10)
