I saw this billionaire ranking at the beginning of 2025 and it made me reflect on one thing... religion has nothing to do with success, right? For example, Elon Musk with his $421 billion is an atheist, then you have Jeff Bezos who grew up Roman Catholic but according to sources has Jewish roots, and his net worth was $233 billion. It's interesting to note how Jeff Bezos, despite religion never being central to his public narrative, is often mentioned alongside other prominent figures of Jewish origin like Larry Ellison and Mark Zuckerberg.
Scrolling through the list, you find all kinds: Larry Page and Sergey Brin of Google, one an atheist and the other Jewish, both among the wealthiest. Warren Buffett, a Presbyterian Christian with $141 billion, Bernard Arnault, a French Catholic with $168 billion. Jensen Huang of Nvidia hasn't declared anything; religion is practically private.
But what strikes me is that Jeff Bezos, with his history as a Roman Catholic but with Jewish roots, represents a bit of this cultural blend you see in America. It’s not that religion determines success, of course, but it’s interesting to see how these profiles are distributed. Most of them are American, that’s for sure. What do you think about this dynamic?
