Why do Chinese people travel in such exhausting ways? Because they’ve spent their entire lives working like oxen and horses without earning much money. They don’t understand why they work so hard and still can’t make much. So they develop the habit of spending less to accomplish more, making sure every dollar is worth it. As a result, they start booking tickets a year in advance, choosing the most cost-effective hotels (location isn’t as important as being diligent and getting up early), visiting the most attractions in the shortest time possible, fearing they might never get another chance to see them. Even when not fully awake, they get up early to rush to the sights, lining up for tickets when needed (there’s always a money-saving reason), taking photos whenever possible (spending money must be worth it), and packing various money-saving tools and snacks in their bags (saving money, even if it’s tiring). So, the core logic here is that limited disposable income and limited disposable time lead to this exhausting travel style. All of this is the result of long-term influence from systems and culture.
