Just realized a lot of people still get confused about what 1M means or how these number abbreviations actually work. Thought I'd share since I see this come up constantly in crypto and online communities.
So here's the thing - K stands for kilo, which is basically just a shorthand for thousand. When you see 1K, that's 1,000. Pretty straightforward. 10K is 10,000, 100K is 100,000. You get the pattern.
Now when it comes to what 1 million means - that's where people sometimes trip up. 1M means 1,000,000. It's literally a thousand thousands. Sounds wild when you say it out loud, but once you get it, it clicks. 5M would be 5 million, 10M is 10 million. Simple math.
Then there's the big one - 1 billion. 1B means 1,000,000,000. That's a thousand millions. Honestly, the scale difference between million and billion is way bigger than most people realize. It's the kind of number that's hard to visualize until you really sit with it.
I'm mentioning this because if you're into crypto, YouTube, freelancing, or just following markets online, you're gonna see these terms constantly. Understanding what 1M means or what 1B actually represents can totally change how you interpret market data or project valuations. Makes a huge difference when you're trying to make sense of price movements or market caps.
If you're tracking any of the assets on Gate right now, knowing these numbers helps you understand the scale better. Whether you're looking at market data or comparing different coins, this basic foundation matters more than you'd think.
