It seems that the security situation in Mexico is worsening again. Last weekend, the military launched a large-scale operation in Jalisco to arrest a well-known cartel leader, but the situation became more complicated in the process.
Nemesio Oseguera, the leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, resisted arrest and was injured, later dying from his wounds. In response, related armed groups were furious and began retaliating across various regions. They set vehicles on fire, blocked roads, and launched attacks against security forces.
The impact of this chaos is quite serious, causing major disruptions to flights at Mexican airports. Even airlines from the US and Canada have been affected, with multiple flights canceled. During such times, it really shows how deeply rooted the cartel's power structure is.
Mexico's security issues are truly complex. Eliminating a single leader often leads to an increase in overall violence within the organization—this vicious cycle. I think we need to keep a close eye on how things develop moving forward.
