I took a look at the latest economic data from 2025, and it's crazy to see the wealth gap between countries. The poorest countries in the world are really concentrated in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia.
South Sudan is at the very bottom with barely $251 GDP per capita. Yemen follows at $417, then Burundi at $490. Honestly, when you see numbers like that, it puts into perspective how people live there. DRC, Niger, Somalia... all around $700-$750 per capita.
What surprised me is that even countries like India (2878$) or Côte d'Ivoire (2872$) remain among the poorest overall. It really shows that the world's poorest countries face huge structural challenges. Compared to developed economies, the gap is insane.
