I recently learned about the story of Ben Armstrong, better known online as BitBoy Crypto, and honestly, it’s a pretty instructive case for everyone involved in this space. He was arrested on March 21, 2025, in Florida on charges related to emails sent to a judge in Georgia, marking a dramatic turn in his career.

But this didn’t come out of nowhere. If you follow the BitBoy Crypto timeline, you’ll see that his story is quite a roller coaster. Back in 2018, he launched his YouTube channel and became one of the most recognizable names in the crypto space. He gained an audience quickly, did market analysis, reviewed projects, and even wrote books about Bitcoin and blockchain for beginners.

The problem is that his reputation started to decline when allegations surfaced that he promoted projects without being transparent about his incentives. The DISTX token scandal in 2020 was particularly serious, causing significant losses for investors who believed in him. That was the breaking point where BitBoy Crypto stopped being just an influencer and became a name associated with controversy.

Then came the most visible fall: in August 2023, Armstrong was removed from HIT Network, the company he had founded himself. The company rebranded everything under the name Discover Crypto with new management, essentially removing him from his own project. And now, less than two years later, the arrest has happened.

What’s interesting is that BitBoy Crypto’s story acts as a mirror for the rest of the industry. It shows that no matter how many followers or influence you have online, if your credibility erodes, everything falls apart. The crypto industry needs trustworthy people, not just good marketers. This is something many content creators should keep in mind before getting involved in questionable projects.
