I recently came across the story of Eric Finman, and it really makes you think about what it means to be young in the crypto world. A guy who is unknown to most of us, but his journey is something special.
It all started quite simply. In 2011, when Finman was only 12 years old, he received a thousand dollars from his grandmother. Instead of spending it on games or gadgets like his peers would, he decided to take a risk and invest everything in Bitcoin. Can you imagine? Back then, BTC was worth about $12 per coin. With his investment, Eric Finman bought approximately 103 bitcoins. It was either genius or madness — or both at once.
An interesting point: his teachers underestimated him, advising him to forget about big dreams. But that only motivated him further. He had an agreement with his parents — if he became a millionaire before 18, he wouldn’t have to go to college. An ambitious plan, you’d agree.
And here’s what happened. In 2017, the price of Bitcoin soared to nearly $20,000 per coin. His initial investment turned into more than two million dollars. Finman kept his promise to his parents and also proved to all critics that they were wrong.
But Eric Finman’s story doesn’t end with Bitcoin. He realized that diversification is key. He started investing in startups, created an educational platform about blockchain and cryptocurrency for youth, and got into real estate. The guy didn’t just accumulate money — he tried to create something useful, to help others understand this complex field. He even bought a Lamborghini to celebrate his success, but that wasn’t the final point for him.
What I like about this story? Eric Finman showed that sometimes, all it takes is courage and a little luck to change your life. He wasn’t a math genius or a programmer since childhood. He simply believed in the technology when no one took it seriously. And although his path is an extreme case, there’s a lesson for everyone: sometimes, taking a big risk really pays off. The story of a young millionaire who proved that college isn’t the only way to success.
