The UK Ministry of Defence stated that the elite gunners of the Royal Air Force have been awarded the title of “ace” for the first time. They shot down Iranian drones during operations in the Middle East, protecting British interests, partners, and personnel safety in the region.

The four individuals earned “ace” status by shooting down five or more drones during operations in the Middle East.

According to reports, the title of “ace” follows the definition established during World War II: a pilot is granted the title of “ace” if they shoot down five or more enemy aircraft.
