Amazon (AMZN) Retains AWS Users’ Access to Claude Following Layoffs in Robotics Unit
Amazon will continue to provide its AWS cloud customers with access to Anthropic’s AI technology, Claude, despite previous issues with the U.S. Department of Defense and President Donald Trump concerning Anthropic’s operations. This decision comes shortly after Amazon laid off 100 white-collar jobs within its robotics unit, part of broader job cuts totalling about 30,000 employees since October 2025. Amazon had invested $8 billion in Anthropic, which faced scrutiny for not allowing the DOD to operate its technology without limitations.
