The Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Andrew Cheung, led a delegation from Hong Kong’s judiciary to attend the 9th Commercial Litigation Judicial Conference in Sydney, Australia, from March 26 to 27, and returned to Hong Kong today (28th).

The members of the Hong Kong delegation included Justices of the Court of Appeal, David Lam, Justice of the Court of First Instance, Anthony Chan, and Chen Jingfen and Zheng Huixin. Justice of the Court of First Instance, Chan Mei-lan, also participated in the conference via video link.

During the two-day conference, the Chief Justices and senior judges from nine participating jurisdictions exchanged views, shared experiences, and best practices on various aspects of commercial litigation, as well as strengthening connections between courts and enhancing legal expertise to address the diverse challenges faced by each jurisdiction.

The courts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Singapore, and New South Wales, Australia, jointly host the Commercial Litigation Judicial Conference every two years, rotating among these three jurisdictions. The last conference was held in Hong Kong in 2024.
