First-mover Research: Another production line ignited, inventory reduction slows down, and glass futures prices approach the early-month lows
According to the inaugural research, another production line has been ignited, inventory reduction has slowed, and glass futures prices are approaching the low point from the beginning of the month.
In the spot market, the spot price of float glass is 1169 yuan/ton, stable compared to the previous trading day. The North China market is basically stable, with the Shahe market showing flexible transactions, and the price center of some specifications moving down. The East China market has not changed much, with companies primarily focused on maintaining prices, while demand is weak, leading to a focus on shipping. Midstream and downstream operations are cautious, meeting only essential needs.
On the supply side, the Hebei Dejin five-line 800 tons/day production line was ignited on March 26. The Sichuan Wujun Guangneng two-line 900 tons production line was started on March 20. This week, the average capacity utilization rate in the float glass industry is 72.78%, a decrease of 0.58 percentage points month-on-month. The total inventory of national float glass sample enterprises is 73.622 million heavy boxes, a decrease of 810,000 heavy boxes compared to the previous period, with the inventory reduction rate slowing down compared to earlier.
On the demand side, the resumption of operations in deep-processing enterprises is slow, and new orders are below expectations, with downstream procurement maintaining essential needs. Raw glass enterprises still face significant inventory pressure, with sales primarily based on flexible pricing.
Viewpoint: While the capacity of float glass is being cleared, some production lines have been ignited, and the reduction of float glass inventory has slowed. Weak terminal demand continues to weigh on the market. It is expected that short-term glass futures prices will fluctuate weakly, with attention paid to cost price trends, downstream order conditions, and production line changes.
