2025 Hainan Province Production Sector Plastic Pipe Product Quality Supervision and Spot Check Results Announced
China Quality News Network reports that according to the website of the Hainan Provincial Market Supervision Administration, in 2025, the Hainan Provincial Market Supervision Administration conducted a supervision and random inspection of plastic pipe products in the production sector across the province. A total of 25 batches of products were sampled, and after inspection, 2 batches were found to be non-compliant, resulting in a non-compliance rate of 8.0%.
This supervision and random inspection was carried out in accordance with the requirements of standards such as GB/T 5836.1-2018, GB/T 10002.1-2023, GB/T 18742.2-2017, GB/T 13663.2-2018, GB/T 19472.1-2019, JG/T 3050-1998, DL/T 802.7-2023, and other standards, and the following items were inspected:
Polyethylene (PE) pipes for water supply: average outer diameter, wall thickness tolerance, static hydraulic strength, oxidation induction time, longitudinal shrinkage rate, ash content, elongation at break, cadmium, lead, potassium permanganate consumption (calculated as oxygen (O2)).
Polypropylene (PP-R) pipes for hot and cold water: specifications and dimensions, static hydraulic strength, ash content, oxidation induction time, longitudinal shrinkage rate, simply supported beam impact, color, turbidity, odor and taste, visible particles, pH value, iron, manganese, copper, zinc, volatile phenols (calculated as phenol), arsenic, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, lead, silver, fluoride, nitrate (calculated as nitrogen), chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, evaporated residue, potassium permanganate consumption (calculated as oxygen (O2)).
PVC-C electrical cable sheathing pipes: specifications, dimensions and deviations, Vicat softening temperature, drop hammer impact test, longitudinal shrinkage rate.
PVC-U drainage pipes: specifications, dimensions, density, Vicat softening temperature, longitudinal shrinkage rate, tensile yield stress/tensile yield strength, elongation at break, drop hammer impact test.
PVC-U pipes for water supply: specifications and dimensions, density, Vicat softening temperature, longitudinal shrinkage rate, tensile yield stress, elongation at break, drop hammer impact, static hydraulic strength, color, turbidity, odor and taste, visible particles, pH value, iron, manganese, copper, zinc, volatile phenols (calculated as phenol), arsenic, mercury, hexavalent chromium, cadmium, lead, silver, fluoride, nitrate, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, evaporated residue, potassium permanganate consumption (calculated as oxygen (O2)).
Agricultural water supply pipes: appearance, average outer diameter deviation, wall thickness deviation at any point, average wall thickness deviation, Vicat softening temperature, longitudinal shrinkage rate, tensile yield strength, drop hammer impact test, hydraulic test.
Insulated electrical conduits: compressive strength, impact resistance, bending performance, heat resistance, self-extinguishing time, oxygen index, electrical performance.
Polyethylene double-wall corrugated pipes: specifications, dimensions, ring stiffness, impact resistance, ring flexibility, oven test, density, oxidation induction time (200℃).
MPP electrical cable sheathing pipes: dimensions, density, ring stiffness, crush test, tensile strength, elongation at break, drop hammer impact, Vicat softening temperature, longitudinal shrinkage rate.
This random inspection found 2 batches that did not meet standard requirements, with the non-compliant items being: density and Vicat softening temperature.
The primary reason for the non-compliance of density is that enterprises used inferior quality raw materials during production or added excessive fillers to the raw materials to reduce costs. The non-compliance mainly reflects that the density of the tested products is relatively high, and the electrical pipes with non-compliant density may easily reduce the heat dissipation performance of the cable during use due to excessive density, which is not conducive to heat conduction and dissipation, leading to increased cable temperature, impacting its lifespan and safety performance.
The primary reason for the non-compliance of Vicat softening temperature is improper process control and unreasonable formulation design. The non-compliance reflects that the Vicat softening temperature of the electrical pipes is too low. Non-compliance will cause the sheathing pipe to easily soften and deform in high-temperature environments, leading to problems such as pipeline rupture and leakage, structural damage, etc., resulting in failure of cable protection, severely affecting project quality and safety.
The non-compliant products identified in this random inspection will be transferred to the local market supervision department where the inspected production unit is located for legal processing.
