Disdain Hierarchy Among AI Models

Claude Users
"Rigorous reasoning, no nonsense, high-quality code, principled"

GPT Users
"Best ecosystem, many plugins, OpenAI is the industry standard"
⬇️
Gemini Users
"Integrated with Google ecosystem, search + AI in one"
⬇️
Local Model Users (Llama / Mistral / Qwen)
"Data stays local, fully controllable, true freedom"
⬇️
People who train their own models
(Silence, dismissive without explanation)
The truth is, the disdain hierarchy is mostly self-comforting—
- Claude is indeed strong in long-form reasoning, but GPT’s multimodal capabilities and ecosystem are more mature
- Local models do protect privacy, but their performance still lags behind top-tier closed-source models
- People using wrapper products may not lack understanding; they might just prefer not to hassle
- Those fine-tuning their own models don’t necessarily get better results than directly using Claude
The most pragmatic attitude: use whichever model solves your problem; mixing and matching is the right approach.
