On March 27, according to U.S. sources on March 26, U.S. officials and sources revealed that the U.S. Department of Defense is developing a “decisive strike” military plan against Iran. The plan includes striking Iran’s main oil export hubs and key islands, as well as blockading or seizing vessels transporting Iranian oil in the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, the U.S. military has formulated ground operation plans to penetrate deep into Iran’s interior to obtain highly enriched uranium buried within nuclear facilities. Another option is to carry out large-scale airstrikes to prevent Iran from acquiring these nuclear materials in the future. It is understood that U.S. President Trump has not yet made a final decision on the aforementioned plans, and the White House stated that ground operations are still in the “hypothetical” discussion stage.
