Media: Apple to Unveil Updated Siri in June

Apple is testing a separate app for the Siri voice assistant and a new Ask Siri feature. It will operate across the company’s ecosystem, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, citing sources.

The iPhone developer is upgrading the digital assistant as part of a broad overhaul in artificial intelligence. It will feature a new appearance and functionality similar to a chatbot.

Apple has not achieved significant success with Apple Intelligence, so the company is working on rebuilding its AI platform around a new version of the voice assistant. The goal is to transform the technology from a regular assistant into a systemic AI agent with deep integration into all applications.

The updated Siri has the code name Campo. It is designed for more efficient management of iPhone and Mac functions and for utilizing personal data such as messages, notes, and emails.

The assistant will be able to perform tasks within apps, access news content, and search for information online.

The most significant change will be the ability to interact with users in a conversational, chat-like format via text or voice.

Separate App

As part of the transition to the new model, Apple is testing a separate Siri app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Its launch is expected later in 2026. The decision will make it a competitor to other AI tools and provide users with a central place to access conversation history.

The main interface will display previous dialogues as a list or grid with text previews. Users will be able to pin favorite chats, save old conversations, search through history, and start new dialogues with a dedicated button.

The chat screen will resemble messaging app conversations. The company will add a toggle between voice and text modes and the ability to upload attachments.

New Interface and Search

Users will be able to summon Siri using the power button or voice command. At the same time, Apple is testing a redesigned interface that will replace the glowing edges introduced in iOS 18.

One of the tested options is placing Siri at the top of the screen within Dynamic Island.

The updated Siri will be able to provide more detailed answers from the internet. It will generate news summaries using Apple News.

Integration into OS

Apple is testing deeper integration of the assistant into operating systems. The menu of built-in apps will feature the Ask Siri function, allowing users to send selected content into a new dialogue with the assistant.

Additionally, a feature called Write with Siri is under development — a button that opens a menu of tools for generating and editing text. This tool already exists but is difficult to find in the current version of iOS.

Many new solutions are based on updated internal models like Apple Foundation Model and Google Gemini technologies.

Recall that in February, media reports revealed plans for Apple to release an AI pendant and headphones with cameras.
