Hillary Testifies Before Congress, Says She Was "Unaware" of Epstein Case

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified before Congress on the Epstein case at her residence in New York State on the 26th. During her closed-door testimony, she stated that she was unaware of the criminal activities of “sex offender” Epstein and had never met him.

Hillary issued a statement on social media that day saying she “completely does not understand their criminal activities,” had never met Epstein, and “never flew on his plane, visited his island, residence, or office.”

Hillary accused the Republican-led House Oversight and Government Reform Committee of trying to divert attention from President Trump’s relationship with Epstein, and called for Congress to directly question Trump. She said, “You forced me to testify, knowing that the information I hold is of no help to your investigation, yet you still did it to shift attention away from President Trump’s actions and cover up these behaviors.”

Former President Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify before Congress on the 27th. The records of the Clinton couple’s testimony will then be released.

For months, the Clintons refused to respond to subpoenas from House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman, Republican James Comer, claiming the subpoenas were invalid and lacked legal authority. In early February, under pressure from a Republican-controlled House planning to vote on whether the Clintons had committed contempt of Congress, they agreed to go to Congress for investigation and questioning. The Clintons also requested that the inquiry be conducted publicly rather than in closed session to prevent Republicans from politicizing the issue.

On February 19th, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee announced that it would hold a closed-door investigation at the Clintons’ residence in Chappaqua, New York. (Xinhua)
