Israeli Soldier Charged with Leaking Intelligence to Iran, Received Only 1,000 USD in Cryptocurrency as Payment

Deep Tide TechFlow News, March 24 — According to The Times of Israel, Raz Cohen, a 26-year-old reservist soldier from Israel, has been formally charged in Jerusalem District Court with allegedly transmitting confidential information to Iranian intelligence personnel in exchange for cryptocurrency.

According to a joint statement from Israeli police and the Shin Bet domestic security agency, Cohen served in a unit responsible for the Iron Dome missile defense system. During contact with Iranian intelligence, he transmitted sensitive information related to the Iron Dome system, military base details, and the names of Israeli security officials, receiving approximately $1,000 worth of cryptocurrency as compensation.

Cohen faces charges including aiding the enemy during wartime, transmitting information to the enemy for the purpose of harming national security, and passing on information that could benefit the enemy. Under Israeli law, aiding the enemy during wartime can result in life imprisonment or the death penalty.
