Starting from 1299 yuan! Storage surges, Huawei launches thousand-yuan phone! Announced on-site "Huawei phones have fully returned"!
Amid rising storage prices, mobile phone brands are increasing prices. Market rumors suggested that “thousand-yuan phones” would disappear, but Huawei’s actions at its Spring All-Scenario New Product Launch Event today dispelled those rumors.
On the afternoon of March 23, Huawei’s Spring All-Scenario New Product Launch Event was held in Changsha.
Huawei Terminal BG CEO He Gang officially announced the “Thousand-Yuan Phone” Enjoy 90 Series, starting at 1,299 yuan. It features Kirin 8000 chip, HarmonyOS 6, HarmonyAI, and is the first in its segment to launch Wi-Fi 7. The Huawei Enjoy 90 Pro Max is equipped with Huawei’s largest 8,500mAh “whale” battery ever.
“He Gang revealed that all future Huawei new models will support Wi-Fi 7.”
It is worth noting that, against the backdrop of continuously rising storage prices, Huawei has innovated memory technology to indirectly increase memory capacity. He Gang introduced that the Huawei Mate80 Pro Max Wind Edition pioneered HyperSpace Memory technology, reconstructing the memory compression system to increase compression ratio by 69% and application keep-alive rate by 100%, allowing 16GB of RAM to deliver the experience of 20GB.
He Gang also announced that the Huawei Mate80 Pro Max is equipped with Kirin 9030 Pro chip and HarmonyOS 6.
“Huawei phones have fully returned,” He Gang stated on site.
“Previously, Huawei rarely publicly discussed Kirin chips, but now we can talk about them openly,” an insider told reporters.
“The combination of Kirin chips and HarmonyOS means Huawei has achieved dual independence and control over core hardware and operating systems,” industry insiders told reporters. From Mate, Pura, Nova to the current Enjoy 90 series, Huawei has completed the return of products across all price segments. This is not only a product line return but also a reconstruction of the technological system. As the HarmonyOS ecosystem continues to expand and application adaptation deepens, Huawei is expected to consolidate its advantages in the high-end market while gradually regaining market share in the mass market. If software and hardware further optimize collaboration in the future, it could pave a complete autonomous ecosystem path for domestically produced smart devices.
At the event, He Gang revealed that as of March 22, 2026, the number of devices running HarmonyOS 5 and HarmonyOS 6 exceeded 50 million, with over 150,000 new devices added daily and more than 350,000 applications/services available. The HarmonyOS ecosystem is accelerating toward maturity and milestone development.
During the launch, several models including Hongmeng Zhixing Shangjie Z7, Shangjie Z7T, Wenjie M6, Zhijie R7, and Zhijie New S7 were unveiled, all equipped with Huawei’s QianKun 896-line dual optical path laser radar. The Shangjie Z7 starts at 229,800 yuan, and the Shangjie Z7T starts at 239,800 yuan.
