DBA Expands Cryptocurrency Bet with US$68 Million Fundraising for Second Fund
The cryptocurrency investment manager DBA continues to expand its presence in the digital market, at a time when billions in traditional savings seek new paths within the crypto ecosystem. With $68 million raised for its second venture capital fund, the New York-based institution reinforces its long-term investment strategy.
Structure of an emerging manager: the names behind DBA
The DBA executive team includes two respected industry veterans. Michael Jordan, who gained experience as former co-director of investments at Galaxy Digital, brings institutional credibility and market knowledge. Alongside him is Jon Charbonneau, a well-known commentator and analyst on the Ethereum network, whose blockchain technology expertise complements the fund’s strategic vision.
This combination of asset management experience and deep technical knowledge positions DBA as a hybrid manager capable of assessing both the quality of investments and the technological feasibility of projects.
From $50 million to $68 million: growing confidence
Since its founding, DBA’s trajectory illustrates the increasing institutional interest in crypto venture capital. The first fund, launched in 2023, raised $50 million. Now, with the second fund reaching $68 million, the institution demonstrates not only investor retention but also the attraction of new capital.
This 36% increase in fund size reflects renewed confidence in specialized cryptocurrency managers, even amid a volatile market environment.
Focused portfolio: from infrastructure to Bitcoin
The fund’s investments reveal a well-defined strategy. DBA has invested in underlying infrastructure protocols such as DoubleZero and Monad, which aim to improve blockchain network efficiency. In the application segment, the fund supported Payy, a stablecoin solution focused on payments.
Additionally, the manager invested in MetaDAO, a funding platform for ICO campaigns, and scalability solutions specifically for Bitcoin. This diversification across infrastructure layers, financial applications, and scaling solutions demonstrates a balanced risk-return approach.
While traditional savings investments see their returns compressed, managers like DBA continue to move significant capital within the crypto universe, betting on technologies that could redefine the digital financial system.
