Last night was Eid.
Today… I look up and see this 🌙
Most people just see a “crescent moon.”
But this… is the hilāl (the sign that governs time itself in Islam).
That tiny curve in the sky?
It started Ramadan.
It ended Ramadan.
It told over a billion people when to fast… and when to celebrate.
And when we see it, we say:
Allāhu akbar.
Allāhumma ahillahu ‘alaynā bil-amni wal-īmān, was-salāmati wal-Islām…
“O Allah, bring this moon over us with security, faith, safety, and Islam…”
A year ago… I would’ve just taken a photo and moved on.
Today… I stand here as a Muslim.
And wallahi, I’ve never felt more guided… or more tested.
Raising children who don’t practice Islam (yet)
Going through divorce because my wife didn’t accept Islam
Losing my parents… because they rejected me as their son
This path isn’t easy.
But Islam never promised ease.
It promised truth.
And truth comes with tests.
Everything I’m going through… is a test from Allah.
A test of sabr.
A test of sincerity.
A test of whether I hold on… even when everything else falls away.
And just like this moon…
It looks small. Weak. Barely there.
But it carries the weight of time… of worship… of guidance for the entire Ummah.
That’s what sabr is.
Quiet.
Unseen.
But powerful enough to shape your entire destiny.
Alhamdulillah for Islam.
Alhamdulillah for guidance.
Alhamdulillah for every test.
Because maybe… just maybe…
Allah tests those He wants to bring closer to Him 🌙
