# The Two Fatal Blind Spots in Human Decision-Making

Human decision-making has two critical vulnerabilities that transcend all ages and fields:

**First: Authority Bias** — Because you trust a certain person, you shut down your own judgment system.

**Second: Herd Mentality** — When you see others doing something, you automatically follow along, even if it contradicts your own judgment.

Cognitive science calls this "mental shortcuts" — quick keys that the brain uses to conserve effort. The cost of saving effort is: you've outsourced your decision-making authority. One goes to an authority figure, the other goes to the crowd.

The most ironic part is: these two biases often work simultaneously. When an authority figure says "everyone is doing it this way," your brain's defense system completely breaks down.
