Pop Mart Collaborates with Sony, LABUBU Movie Coming
[Caixin] Pop Mart is creating content for its popular IP. On March 19, Pop Mart and Sony Pictures jointly announced that they will develop a live-action animated film based on Pop Mart’s globally popular classic IP character THE MONSTERS (LABUBU).
The film is planned to be directed and produced by Paul King, who previously directed the “Paddington” series and “Willy Wonka.” Additionally, Paul King will team up with Steven Levenson to serve as the screenwriter for the film. THE MONSTERS artist Long Jiasheng will serve as the executive producer. Other producers include Michael Schaefer, who was involved in producing “The Martian,” and Shé Wénxīn, who participated in producing “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” and “Wish Dragon.” Britney Morris will represent Sony Pictures in charge of supervision.
