The proposed ban would cover AI systems generating explicit images that look like real people without consent, but would exempt platforms with effective safety measures blocking such outputs.

Bloomberg describes this as the EU's first policy specifically targeting AI platforms for producing non-consensual intimate material. If enacted, fines could reach up to 7% of global annual revenue, leaving xAI little room to maintain the hands-off approach it has used since January.
