IT Home February 26 News, Microsoft today announced the February Xbox update, bringing 1440p game streaming support.

Streaming Feature Upgrade

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream games at up to 1440p resolution on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S consoles.

This upgrade is being rolled out to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, and Xbox One S consoles, and also supports Xbox PC app, portable devices, supported browsers, some Fire TV devices, LG TVs, and Samsung TVs.

Xbox PC App Audio Enhancements

In the Xbox PC app, Microsoft has added new sound effects to improve controller responsiveness. These optional audio cues play during key actions—such as switching focus, selecting items, or exiting—to provide more feedback for each interaction.

If users prefer not to hear these sounds, they can go to Settings > Audio to enable or disable controller sound effects and adjust the volume.

ROG Xbox Ally Software Update

Microsoft has listened to user feedback and added several new features to the ROG Xbox Ally, including the ability to format removable storage. The update details are as follows:

Improved support for formatting mobile storage: ROG Xbox Ally users can now easily format mobile storage (including officially licensed SanDisk microSD cards) to install and run games directly through the Xbox app. When installing games, users simply select the mobile storage drive and format it directly.

Advanced shader transfer indicator: ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X players will now see notifications on supported game loading screens indicating whether graphics shaders have been precompiled. The advanced shader transfer preloads game shaders during download, allowing some games to start faster and run more smoothly on first launch.

Additional improvements: Microsoft has made several updates based on feedback from ROG Xbox Ally players, including displaying the digital battery percentage in the Game Bar and more precise standby behavior. Microsoft has improved the idle standby mode logic for more reliable modern standby performance (requires ROG Xbox Ally BIOS v317 or higher).
