Total assets of financial institutions exceed 53.2 trillion yuan

Beijing, March 17 (XU Peiyu) — Data released recently by the People’s Bank of China shows that at the end of Q4 2025, the total assets of China’s financial institutions reached 53.886 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.7% year-on-year.

Among them, the total assets of banking institutions were 48.001 trillion yuan, up 8.0% year-on-year; securities firms’ total assets were 1.754 trillion yuan, up 16.1%; and insurance companies’ total assets were 4.131 trillion yuan, up 15.1%.

Financial institutions’ liabilities totaled 49.282 trillion yuan, an increase of 9.0% year-on-year. Specifically, banking institutions’ liabilities were 44.150 trillion yuan, up 8.2%; securities firms’ liabilities were 1.366 trillion yuan, up 19.1%; and insurance companies’ liabilities were 3.765 trillion yuan, up 15.6%.
